We work out the full timing with you: when guests arrive, where the guest of honour sits, when they walk in, and the agreed signal. On the night our team plays along, including at the door.
The simplest approach is to ask guests to arrive thirty to forty-five minutes before the time given to the guest of honour. They are seated, coats away, drinks poured. We place the group out of direct sight of the entrance so the effect actually works.
Dinner for two, a small family meal, an invitation from a friend: the story is yours, but tell us what it is. At the door our team has to say the same thing you did, otherwise the surprise collapses in thirty seconds. We also agree a signal for the moment of entry.
Once the moment has passed, the evening becomes an ordinary birthday: drinks, the meal, cake and candles when you choose. We deliberately leave a gap between the arrival and the start of service, because the first few minutes are always chaotic.
